The Position:
We are seeking an exceptional Strategic Evaluation Leader to join our team in the Independent Evaluation Office. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for providing leadership and overall management of the office, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality evaluations that inform decision-making and drive positive change.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic direction and oversight to the evaluation function, ensuring alignment with UNFPA's Strategic Plan and priorities
- Lead the preparation of the budget and Work Plan of the Independent Evaluation Office, ensuring effective use of resources and efficient delivery of outputs
- Conduct corporate evaluations (Thematic, Country Programme) in accordance with the Evaluation Plan, promoting accountability and results-based management
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to communicate and facilitate use of evaluations, enhancing organizational learning and knowledge sharing
- Collaborate with stakeholders to promote the use of state-of-the-art evaluation methods and approaches, aligning with the United Nations Evaluation Group (UNEG) Norms and Standards and international best practices
- Provide advisory services to the Executive Director and senior management on evaluation matters, ensuring evidence-informed decision-making
- Represent UNFPA in international and inter-agency meetings on evaluation-related issues, promoting our interests and contributing to global discussions on evaluation best practices

Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Advanced university degree in one or more of the following population-related fields: Management, Economics, Public Administration, Population/Demography and/or Social Science disciplines
- A minimum of 15 years of professional experience in evaluation work at progressively increasing levels, with at least 8 years of related work experience at the international level
- Excellent technical knowledge of evaluation design, data collection, analysis and reporting, as well as software skills (e.g., Access, Excel, statistical applications)
- Proven ability to lead and manage diverse teams, achieving demonstrable results and promoting a culture of performance
- Fluency in English is required; working knowledge of another official UN language is highly desirable
