Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Technical Consultant to join our team in Nairobi, Kenya. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food systems and supply chain management, with experience working in East African markets.

This is a three-month contract, with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and supporting the implementation of the Local and Regional Food Procurement Policy (LRFPP) across the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guide and develop the RBN Food Procurement LRFP Officer to provide effective leadership on LRFP implementation across the region.
  • Together with the LRFP Officer, provide support and guidance to Country Offices on LRFP implementation.
  • Develop guidance and communication material as appropriate to support LRFP implementation in the region.
  • Liaise with HQ and other RBs to represent RBN's LRFP activities and ensure up-to-date policy application and cross-learning with other implementers.
  • Lead the Traceability Working Group and participate in others as required.
Qualifications & Experience

Education: Minimum bachelor's degree and/or relevant professional business qualification.

Experience: More than 12 years' experience in food manufacture and/or distribution in WFP-relevant markets.

Knowledge of and experience in East African markets is an advantage. Previous experience with WFP is also an advantage.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Good strategic understanding of food systems and detailed operational knowledge of food value chains.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and engagement skills.
  • A good understanding of WFP procurement activities and more broadly supply chain and CBT.
