We are looking for 2 Business Development Executives to join our team.

Role Purpose

The ideal candidates will have a strong background in freight forwarding & contract logistics(warehousing)sales, client acquisition, relationship building and market expansion, with a proven ability to meet set targets. The purpose of the role is to implement business development plans and processes to generate new/ additional business, maximize profit and grow market share in line with business strategy, financial objectives, guidelines and policies.

Key Responsibilities

1.
Business Growth & Client Acquisition

  • Reach out to shared leads and prospects to understand their needs, address concerns, and build rapport.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in freight forwarding (air, sea, and road), warehousing, 3PL, and last-mile delivery.
  • Implement strategic sales plans to expand the company's client base in key industries (e.g., retail, manufacturing, pharma, industrial and e-commerce).
  • Conduct market research to identify trends and untapped opportunities in Kenya/East Africa
  • Book meetings and conduct in-person visits to clients to foster stronger relationships, assess their needs firsthand, and demonstrate commitment to their success
  • Identifying opportunities to offer additional products or services to existing clients
  • Building positive word-of-mouth and referrals through satisfied clients.

2.
Prospect & Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and prospects.
  • Ensuring prompt and thorough follow-up on all client/prospect interactions, including addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and converting RFQs/RFPs/RFIs to won business.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service agreements to maximize profitability.
  • Prioritize understanding prospects and clients' pain points, goals, and challenges to tailor our services and build strong relationships.
  • Actively soliciting feedback from clients to identify areas for improvement and ensure ongoing satisfaction.
  • Effectively understand a prospect's industry dynamics and unique challenges
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the clients and prospects on industry trends, happenings and changes.
  • Plan and set joint business review meetings with clients

3.
Revenue Generation & Sales Strategy

  • Achieve and exceed monthly/quarterly sales targets.
  • Prepare proposals, presentations, and tenders for corporate clients.
  • Collaborate with operations and solutions teams to ensure seamless service delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Update opportunities regularly and accurately from lead generation to closure in the company sales CRM.

4.
Market Expansion & Partnerships

  • Explore partnerships with sector business associations, embassies trade councils and other trade forums
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking forums.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; establishing personal networks and benchmarking state-of-the-art practices

5.     Conduct other duties as required by business needs or as assigned

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Sales, Marketing or Business-related course
  • 3+ years of experience in freight forwarding & contract logistics (warehousing & fulfillment) sales, account management or customer service
  • Proven track record of meeting/exceeding sales targets and growing a client portfolio in freight forwarding and contract logistics.
  • Good knowledge of the freight forwarding & contract logistics market in Kenya and globally.
  • Ability to share your confidence, transfer your belief to the prospect and leave them reassured they've found the best partner for their supply chain problems.
  • Aggressive, smart, proactive, confident and competitive spirit (if you're not first, you're last)
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, learn and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong desire to win and succeed
  • Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
