Cardiac Critical Care Nurse

Avenue Hospital seeks Cardiac Critical Care Nurses to join their multidisciplinary team. Key responsibilities include prioritizing care, evaluating patient health status, administering medications, and providing health education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Using the Nursing Process, organize and coordinate nursing care by prioritizing care for critically ill patients based on assessment data.
- Evaluate patients hourly in the Cardiac Critical Unit, including vital signs, and act accordingly.
- Perform various nursing procedures as outlined in the Nursing Council Procedure Manual.
- Administer routine intravenous medications as ordered by physicians/surgeons.
- Provide and ensure appropriate health teaching and emotional support to patients, families, and visitors, including treatment options and maintaining confidentiality.
- Do accurate documentation and keep proper records of patients.
- Provide effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation and maintain infection prevention guidelines.
- Ensure safety in the workplace by maintaining a clean, safe, and pleasant environment.
- Set and monitor medical equipment and devices to enable correct response to patient conditions.
- Support Charge Nurse in administrative roles as assigned.
- Safeguard hospital and patient confidential information and property.
- Report complaints and incidents to the In-charge as they occur.
- Provide mentorship to junior nurses and students.
- Identify research topics, construct a research plan, and carry out surveys at the operational level.
- Promote effective interpersonal and public relations with the team.
- Maintain familiarity with the legal implications of nursing practice and ensure legal requirements are met.
- Perform any other responsibilities assigned by the Unit's In-charge or designate, depending on need and urgency.
Person Specification:
- Valid BLS and ACLS Certification.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing/Diploma in Community Health Nursing (KRCHN).
- Higher Diploma qualification in Critical Care.
- At least 3 years working experience in Cath-lab with post Cardiac Certificate.
- Registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- Valid practicing license with the Nursing Council.
