**Role Summary:**

The Social Policy Director will play a key role in leading our social policy programming and advocacy efforts. This position requires a highly skilled individual with expertise in economic analysis, public policy, and program management. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of developing and implementing effective policies that improve the lives of children and families.

**Key Responsibilities:**

1. Lead Social Policy Programming: Develop and implement comprehensive social policy programs that address the needs of children and families. Collaborate with government officials, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure that our programs are well-planned, monitored, and evaluated.

2. Economic Analysis and Research: Conduct thorough economic analyses and research to inform our social policy initiatives. Provide data-driven recommendations to policymakers and program managers to ensure that our programs are evidence-based and effective.

3. Public Policy Advocacy: Work closely with government officials, NGOs, and other stakeholders to advocate for policies that benefit children and families. Develop and implement strategies to influence policy decisions and ensure that our voice is heard at the highest levels of government.

4. Program Management: Oversee the implementation of our social policy programs, ensuring that they are well-managed, efficient, and effective. Monitor progress, identify areas for improvement, and develop corrective action plans as needed.

5. Capacity Building: Provide training and technical assistance to government officials, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to build their capacity to design, implement, and evaluate effective social policies.

6. Collaboration and Partnerships: Foster strong partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to leverage resources, expertise, and influence. Ensure that our programs are well-coordinated and aligned with the goals and objectives of our partners.

7. Knowledge Sharing: Share knowledge and best practices with colleagues, partners, and other stakeholders to promote learning and collaboration. Document lessons learned and success stories to inform future programming and policy development.

8. Reporting and Communication: Prepare and disseminate regular reports to stakeholders on our social policy programs, highlighting achievements, challenges, and lessons learned. Communicate effectively with donors, partners, and other stakeholders to keep them informed about our work and progress.

9. Representation: Represent UNICEF at national and international forums, conferences, and meetings to showcase our work and contribute to the global conversation on social policy and development.

10. Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of UNICEF's country program strategy, including setting goals, objectives, and priorities for social policy programming. Ensure that our programs are aligned with the organization's overall mission and goals.

Requirements:

* Advanced university degree in economics, public policy, social sciences, or a related field.

* Minimum ten years of relevant professional experience in economic analysis, public policy, program management, or a related field.

* Proven track record of developing and implementing effective social policies that improve the lives of children and families.

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct thorough economic analyses and research.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with government officials, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders.

* Ability to think strategically and make sound judgments, with a focus on results-oriented programming.

* Fluency in English is required; knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
