Job SummaryThe role of Corporate Business DevelopmentOfficer is promoting and growing the Group Life & Pensions business byproviding competitive quotations to clients, generating revenue through diversedistribution channels, new business processing, and providing excellent customerservice.Responsibilities:§  Generating revenue from new and existing brokers aswell as clients.§  Providing and sending competitive quotations toprospects and intermediaries.§  Preparing and writing proposals for submission andtender processing.§  Consulting on the most effective cover for aparticular need, while taking a number of factors into account.§  Setting up meetings, preparing and deliveringpresentations to potential clients.§  Processing of documentation for new businessacquisition.§  Developing and maintaining good workingrelationships with intermediaries, business partners and existing customers.§  Ensuring credibility with clients by maintainingdetailed knowledge of current market conditions and competitors' products.§  Delivering good customer service by respondingswiftly to queries and concerns from clients.§  Gathering customer service feedback and reportingon intellectual and operational issues raised by clients.§  Handling compliance and servicing meetings asassigned by Managers.§  Providing management with market feedback andintelligence. §  Regularly and accurately updating database of allprospective and closed business in addition to submitting a weekly report ofactivities to managers.§  Ensuring strict adherence to practices, proceduresand policy stipulated in the business development operational manual includingthe Code of Ethics.§  Maintaining and updating all forms of businesscontacts.§  Preparing regular management reports.§  Managing intermediaries and other business partnerssocial forums to enhance relationships and reward good performance.§  Managing exhibition stands and corporatesponsorships.§  Providing advice to process improvement and systemdevelopment initiatives affecting the department and participating in theautomation of the business function. §Identifying broker or emerging customer needs in order to help developnew business opportunities in liaison with business development headsRequirements Skills & Experience Requirements§  At least four (4) year's post qualificationexperience in a Life Assurance and Pensions Business Development function. Must have previous experience in sales andmarketing§  Appreciable understanding of the Kenya insurancemarket, the prevailing business environment and products by the competition.§  Good customer relationship management skills(internal and external customers).§  Good communications skills, both written andverbal.§  Self -motivated but able to work as part of a team.§  Good organizational and time -management skills.§  Positive attitude, self -motivated, self -driven andable to work with minimal supervision.§  Good negotiation and persuasion skills.§  Confidence presenting to large groups of people.§  Trustworthiness and discretion when handlingconfidential information.§  A smart appearance and professional manner.§  Strong attention to detail, ability to multitaskand performance oriented. Academicand Professional Qualifications§  Bachelor's Degree in a business or social sciencerelated field from a reputable university. §Reasonable progress toward professional qualification(s) in insurancee.g. ACII, FCII or equivalent, would be and added advantage.
